As was reported a few months back, Staple and Airwalk have been working on a long-term partnership to build a tight capsule collection that will be sold exclusively at Payless stores nationwide. After months of designing and proto reviews, I'm happy to see the first samples in my hands. They are looking really good and I'm very happy with them. The whole idea behind this collaboration is to bring our design sensibilities to a different audience and the distribution that Payless covers (over 4000 stores globally). In addition, there's one simple parameter: No shoe retails for more than $50 bucks. (And in this day and age, I figure we could all use the help.) But honestly, recession or no recession, I feel like it's about time someone brings that street-skate-design mentality to the masses. This is one of about 8 styles that will encompass the entire STPL x AIRWALK Collection. I'll keep posting some more photos as they come in. Look out for them in August!
